5 Turkish organizations that have completed project applications in the Horizon Europe Programme Cluster 4: Digital Destinations in 2023 have received a total of 1 million 764 thousand Euros from the European Commission for 4 different projects!
“Destination 3: World-leading data and computing technologies (DATA)”, “Destination 4: Digital and emerging technologies for competitiveness and fit for the Green Deal (DIGITAL EMERGING)” and “Destination 6: A human-centered and ethical development of digital and industrial technologies (HUMAN)”, are all located under the “Cluster 4: Digital, Industry and Space" of the Horizon Europe Programme. 5 Turkish organizations, one of them as the coordinator, were entitled to be supported by the European Commission under these destination call topics of the year 2023.
The SHEREC project, “Safe, Healthy and Environmental Ship Recycling”, which was prepared jointly by Hidropar Hareket Kontrol Teknolojileri Merkezi San. ve Tic. A.S. (HKTM) as the coordinator and Avşar Gemi Sokum Sanayii Dis Tic. Ltd. Sti as a project partner, received 10.5 points. There are 16 organizations in the consortium of the Turkish-coordinated project, and HKTM - Avşar Gemi Söküm Ltd. Şti's total budget recorded as 1,019,250.00 euros, and the total budget of the project is 9,175,060.00 euros. The main purpose of the SHEREC project is to integrate innovative robotics, big data and artificial intelligence systems into the ship recycling industry and develop related applications in order to significantly improve the occupational health and safety conditions in the sector and to improve both in occupational and environmental aspects.
“My Personal AI Mediator for Virtual MEETtings BetWEEN People”, "Meetween", in which İTÜNOVA TEKNOLOJI ANONIM SIRKETI applied as a partner, received 14 points from the Commission. There are 8 organizations in the project consortium and the budget that İTÜNOVA is entitled to receive is 286,500.00 euros, while the total budget of the project is 7,239,725.00 euros.
"Multi-Modal and Multi-Aspect Holistic Human-Robot Interaction", "FORTIS", which ARCELIK A.S. applied as a partner, received 12.5 points. There are 12 organizations in the project consortium and the budget that Arçelik is entitled to receive is 227,915.63 Euros, while the total budget of the project is 11,078,294.75 Euros. The FORTIS project focuses specifically on providing a complete Human-Robot Interaction (HRI) solution that includes multimodal communication and versatile interaction. Main goal is the development of a human-centered solution that meets the needs of both human workforce and robots and enables them to work together efficiently and safely.
"Intersubjective AI-driven multimodal interaction for advanced user-centric human robot collaborative applications", "JARVIS", which includes TOFAS TURK OTOMOBIL FABRIKASI ANONIM SIRKETI in its consortium, received 10.5 points. There are 16 organizations in the project consortium, and TOFAŞ's budget is 230,300.00 Euros, while the total budget of the project is 11,133,977.50 Euros. Within JARVIS, mechanical functions and numerical control need to work together seemlessly, in order to create robots that transform from repetitive and precision-focused tasks to intelligent and helpful co-workers. In this direction, appropriate human-robot interaction stands out as the most important ground to be addressed. Therefore, JARVIS aims to develop a reusable toolset that enables AI-driven multimodal interaction tools.
